Michell Embree Ku for the Connecticut House of Representatives, District 106, Newtown.

Hello, I’m Michelle Embree Ku, your neighbor, a problem-solver, and a proven community leader who has spent years showing up for Newtown.

With deep roots in local service and a career grounded in science and public health, I lead with integrity, honesty, and compassion.

I believe leadership should feel approachable, decisions should be guided by real life, and Newtown should always come first. Ku Is For You isn’t just a slogan — it’s a commitment to listen, work together, and deliver for the people who call Newtown home.

I jumped in the moment I moved to Newtown 16 years ago. I’ve served in schools, nonprofits, statewide groups, state government, and right here in town. I know how to lead teams. I know how to legislate. I know how to move ideas into action.

All told, I have 13 years of service on Newtown elected boards and appointed commissions:

  • Two years on the Board of Selectmen
  • Two years on the Legislative Council (currently serving)
  • Eight years on the Board of Education (4 years as Chair)
  • One year on a Charter Revision Commission
