Voting is serious business and many of us take it too lightly. We vote for the person who has a nice smile or one who has been in office a long time. Especially now, we need to delve more deeply into the records of our candidates. What have they promised and what have they actually done for you and me.
If you look at Mitch Bolinsky’s record you will see that he has voted along party lines whether it was good for Newtown or not. On the other hand, Michelle Ku has listened to us and voted accordingly. She has served the people of Newtown with integrity, commitment, and a deep understanding of our community’s needs.
Please join me and vote for Michelle Embree Ku this November. Her voice in Hartford will reflect the priorities and values of the residents she serves.

Hearty Support For Michelle Embree-Ku And Rob Blanchard

I have lived in Newtown for 22 years, and in that time I have seen a lot of politicians come and go. Some were good, some not so good. This year, however, I am genuinely excited to support Michelle Embree Ku for the 106th House District and Rob Blanchard for the 28th State Senate District.
Michelle genuinely cares about Newtown and the people who live here. She knows our community, understands the issues we face, and will be a strong voice for us in Hartford. She brings a scientific background and years of service to Newtown on the Board of Education, the Board of Selectmen, and the Legislative Council. Just as importantly, she is thoughtful, independent, and not afraid to stand up for what she believes is right.
Rob may be a newer resident of Newtown, but he is no stranger to the 28th State Senate District or to public service. He has lived in the district for years, served in local government in Fairfield, and held senior positions in state government, including in the Governor’s Office. He is smart, articulate, and understands how state government works. I believe he will put that experience to work as a strong advocate for Newtown and the entire district.
In Michelle Embree Ku and Rob Blanchard, we have two capable, committed candidates who will represent Newtown with enthusiasm and integrity in Hartford. I hope you’ll join me in supporting both this November.

It’s time to focus on getting the vote out for the November ballot. An important midterm election for CT House of Representatives is building up steam. My candidate is Michelle Embree Ku, to represent the 106th district.
According to Ballotpedia website ballotpedia.org/Connecticut_House_of_Representatives, the House and Senate “forms the legislative branch of the Connecticut state government and works alongside the governor to create laws and establish a state budget. Legislative authority and responsibilities of the Connecticut House of Representatives include passing bills on public policy matters, setting levels for state spending, raising and lowering taxes, and voting to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.”
Newtown needs a representative that will perform these tasks, representing All Newtown residents and businesses. Newtown needs a representative that fights for economic fairness, justice, equality and a sustainable future. Michelle is that candidate.

All In For Hayes, Blanchard, Ku, Kerton And Lamont In November

The low turnout we recently witnessed in Connecticut’s primary should concern all of us — not because every voter has to support the same candidate or political party, but because participation in our democracy matters.
There is a lot at stake nationally as well as with who represents us in Hartford after the midterms. Elections give us an opportunity have our voices heard and it is a wasted opportunity when only a small percentage of eligible voters participate and end up making decisions that affect all of us.
Democrats have excellent candidates who will do a great job representing us: Jahana Hayes for the 5th Congressional District; Rob Blanchard, who is ready for the open seat in the 28th State Senate District; and Michelle Embree Ku and Julie Kerton for the 106th and 107th House Districts respectively. Last but not least, Ned Lamont for Governor.
All candidates have been reaching out to voters via door knocking and by making phone calls. But we need more engagement and in order to educate the electorate as to why these candidates should represent us — we need to spread the word. Talk to your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Remind people that their vote matters and encourage them to learn about the candidates and issues before Election Day.
Democracy works best when people participate. Whether you vote by absentee ballot, vote early, or show up at the polls on Election Day, make a plan and make your voice heard. Spread the word. And most importantly, show up in November! Every vote counts.

I am writing to express my strong support for Michelle Ku. In my experience with local public service, a candidate’s track record speaks volumes, and Michelle’s record is exemplary.
Throughout challenging community discussions — whether regarding land use, the response to COVID-19, or changes in school start times — Michelle has consistently invited and facilitated tough, necessary conversations. She stood firm against book bans and, under her leadership on the Board of Education, addressed concerns about racism with actionable plans that served as models for other districts. This record of dedicated, inclusive leadership directly contradicts the baseless allegations leveled against her in recent weeks.
Michelle has consistently demonstrated a genuine commitment to good-faith dialogue that brings people together. That approach is vital for Newtown, a community that thrives when diverse perspectives are welcomed. Michelle truly understands this, and I am confident she will continue to lead with that same collaborative spirit in her public service.

We need effective representation in Hartford that understands our needs as a community and has the relationships to collaborate on bills and pass legislation that helps us.
Regardless of your party affiliation, everyone agrees that traffic has gotten much worse in town recently. As the chair of the Legislative Council Transportation Planning Committee, Michelle has a great deal of insight into this issue on a local level. When the traffic is caused by problems with I-84, we need solutions that come from Hartford. Michelle has long relationships with the representatives from our neighboring districts, including many who endorse her candidacy. Being in the majority party and having strong bonds with other lawmakers gives a representative the political power and trust needed to secure resources and pass laws for our community.

Let’s Send Our Best To Hartford: Embree Ku And Blanchard

Taxes. The cost of living. The cost of thriving. The environment. Education. Health care. The future of democracy. All these things and more are on the ballot Nov. 3.
Ever since I moved to Newtown in 2014, I have been “represented” in Hartford by consistent and Republican business-as-usual voices. They have had little power and less effect. They champion Newtown but are not effective participants in state government. And on the major issues of the day — democracy, the direction of the country — they have been silent. Do they support their party — and Donald Trump’s and the national Republican Party’s perversion of democracy — or do they not? They’d rather not say. They say “It’s about Newtown. I’m for Newtown.” Well, OK. But we’re ALL for Newtown, and that is not an answer.
Newtown has, again, a chance to change things for the better on Election Day. The candidacies of Michelle Embree Ku and Rob Blanchard, in the 106th State House and 28th State Senate districts, respectively, represent change and progress at a time when Newtown — and Connecticut and the country — need them very, very much.
Michelle and Rob will work hard, do right and keep us informed. That’s what I want.

I am writing to support the candidacies of Michelle Embree Ku and Rob Blanchard. Michelle is running to represent Newtown in Connecticut’s 106th House of Representatives district. Rob is running for Connecticut’s 28th State Senate District, which includes all of Newtown, Easton and Fairfield, along with parts of Westport and Weston.
Michelle’s 14 years of experience in local and state government and her deep connection to the people of Newtown make her uniquely qualified to represent us.
Like Michelle, Rob Blanchard has already served at both the local and state level. Rob’s number one priority as a senator will be to reduce the cost of living in Connecticut. One way he’ll do this is by working to pass legislation that would increase the base amount the state contributes to each student’s education, which has not changed since 2017. Through his experience with state and local level budgeting, Rob knows that a portion of the state surplus can be redirected to reducing property taxes by increasing the state contribution to education.
This November, I’m voting for Michelle Embree Ku and Rob Blanchard. I hope that you’ll join me, whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or unaffiliated.

Michelle Embree Ku has shown time and time again how hard she is willing to work for the well-being of the residents of Newtown. Her record of public service in this town is long and exemplary. She served for eight years on the Board of Education, four years as its Chair. She has served on the Legislative Council for two terms and was recently one of our selectmen.
In every role she has taken on for Newtown, she has brought her unique blend of compassion and careful reasoning. We need more public servants like Michelle. Her principal focus has always been on problem solving and reaching balanced, lasting solutions. In every role, faced with any situation, her honesty and integrity have been demonstrated to be above question. We can trust her in this time of emotional posturing and violent political rhetoric to stay centered and calm. We can trust her to keep working toward common ground. She is not one to be pushed around. Her allegiance is to this town and the people who live in it, not to a political party.
Given what is happening on the national level, I want a representative in the General Assembly who is not aligned with the Republican Party. Talk about trust issues. I do not trust the Republican Party given who they have been willing to leave in leadership in Washington D.C. I do not want that disregard for the Constitution and for our personal rights, that corruption, in anyway affiliated with Newtown.
