Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001—the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage shown by first responders, service members, and ordinary people who came together in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
Remembering September 11 is about more than looking back. It is a reminder to cherish our loved ones, support our neighbors, honor those who served, and carry forward the compassion and unity that emerged in its aftermath.
May we never forget the nearly 3,000 people whose lives were taken, and may we continue to honor their memory through kindness, service, and a commitment to stand together.

As I prepare to walk in the Newtown Labor Day Parade today, I can`t help but think about the growing inequities in this country and how much harder it`s become for young people to land their first job, let alone buy their first home.
My father was a community college professor in Chicago. This photo is of him on strike with his fellow faculty members, fighting for better working conditions. My family struggled to get by, but my parents worked hard, and my brother and I were given opportunities they never had.
The labor movement helped make it possible for each generation to do better than the previous one. It`s the reason working families like mine had a shot at something better. Happy Labor Day.
I am grateful for everyone who`s ever stood up, walked out, or spoken up for a fairer deal. We need it now more than ever. We need it now more than ever, because the gap between those who work and those who profit from that work keeps widening, and unions remain one of the few tools working people have to close it.
One sign can start a conversation. One conversation can inspire a supporter. One supporter can help change the outcome. Let’s make our momentum visible—and make it impossible to ignore!
